How Much Is Enough?

Updated: Feb 17

I have noticed that "No Buy Month" is a popular theme on YouTube lately. After a recent experience, I find this challenge intriguing and plan to try it for the last 2 weeks in February. My brothers and I recently moved my mom from her 3 bedroom, 3 car garage into a more manageable living situation. Although my mom's house was never messy, we had no idea what lurked behind closed closet doors and boxes in the garage. After multiple trips to the dump, recycling centers, and Goodwill, the house is sold and finally empty. We all found this experience very stressful and I have no plans to replicate this when I'm older. In my first month after cutting back at work, I purged as much as possible out of my home. When the weather warms up, the garage will be next. There is a woman on YouTube who does a lifestyle vlog and everything in her house is white and extremely clean (she is always cleaning in the vlog to the point of obsession), she and her home ooze hygge-style calm. While I could not possibly stand all that cleaning, her less-than-more approach has validity. One of the vloggers wrote down the price of everything she almost bought in 1 month to the tune of $1200. That kind of savings could go a long way towards my next trip to Italy in September!

February 17th update - No Buy Month not going well. Must remember I am a Work In Progress!
